If ever I were to own a company charged with the creation of vases, it would surely have to be named Wizarda.
That is all.
(Off to go krogering with melissa to cook dinner in our new home. there will be s'mores and firelight and snickering. not the candy bar.)

I think it only natural a reaction upon receiving a giant iPod boombox for christmas to promptly download Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes and go to the home of one's lady love for a bit of serenading.
I'm off!
(p.s. merry christmas everyone!)

Work is going really well. I think they have really low expectations of people coming in and learning their stuff, which is kind of nice because I don't really have any pressure yet. I'm managing to completely kick ass and way over-achieve on everything they've given me to do so far without really trying. As an example of that, my boss has the week off next week for xmas so he gave me a big list of things to work on that were supposed to tide me over. They took me two days to finish and so now I'm waiting on a bigger project.
I've actually been told by some of my chums that I need to be less productive now, because they might actually get to expecting things out of me. Apparently I should be space-cadetting and surfing the net more, and actually only being productive 4-6 minutes out of every 10. I've also had it insinuated that after 6 months I may be up for a 10% raise...apparently they hire GA Tech folk on at a higher starting salary and for other folk if they show themselves to be competent they too get bumped up.
In other news, Melissa is home and it is wondermous. We're probably going to start looking for a place to live in the next couple of weeks. I'm fairly excited (understatement) and also a bit nervous, but I think that I'm more nervous about not being nervous than I actually am nervous. If that made any sense.
Plans for the evening: bottle of red wine (91 on the robert parker wine index...*schnaaaarf*) and worlds of warcraft. SEXY!

Oh wait, I already told my mom. I guess that was about the whole list :P. The interview got moved to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, so employment it seems is successfully staved off for another weekend. All is not lost however as will informs me that there is a Group X concert/costume party tomorrow night!
Mmmm, the original arabian rap sensations. Irresponsibility calls to me to go to a costume shop, apply plastic, and walk out with something sillytastic.

I went on a big fancy-schmancy interview yesterday at this place that is practically right next to GA tech. It's like exit 252 on 75. I say fancy-schmancy because most everyone there was wearing normal every day clothes and everyone was really friendly. I just got a call back this morning and I'm going in for a second round of "interviews" tomorrow whereby I am supposed to meet most of the folk I'd be working with and make sure none of them immediately hate me. And to do more magic tricks.
Okay, not really magic tricks. But they program there in their own proprietary language called Magic. And it was really funny on the original job posting that I replied to where it said you would be tested on your Magic ability. So far I've already done a couple of fairly simple quizzes in it so I'm not overwhelmingly concerned, and one guy I knew from UGA works there already.

The vet said everything looked fine on the chest x-rays and that the tumors haven't spread or anything, so it was basically just a big ol' meany scare attack. Lucy's surgery went just fine and she should be back up to...well, limping around and looking loopy eyed from drugs. For a few days any way.
Yanked from Emily's journal, Leave a comment and I'll try to respond. you know how it works.
1. I'll respond with something random about you. 2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you. 3. I'll pick a liquor I'd take a shot of with you. 4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me. 5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you. 6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of. 7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered or liked about you. 8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal.

My dog is in surgery at the vet today. She tore her ACL last week playing ball. The scarier thing though is that the vet wanted to do chest x-rays before he operated to see if her cancer had spread (she's had a few tumors in the past). He said that if she had cancer in her chest that he wouldn't want to operate if she was just going to die soon any way...and that he may want to put her down.
My dad's solution to this is...if the vet doesn't want to fix her leg, she'll probably have to get it amputated, but there's no way in hell we're putting her down. Why do I feel like today is not going to be a good day?

Who ever thought that I could become so happy by coming across a random mp3 of Cibo Matto's Birthday Cake. That was hands down my favorite song on the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack, which is saying a lot since almost all of the music in that game was excellent.
Last weekend I went down to Florida to visit Melissa. We hit up clearwater beach, which was excellent despite the drunken pirate cruise selling out. We also went to the Salvador Dali museum in St Petersburg...rock! I think Costa Brava was my favorite at the museum that I hadn't seen before ( http://www.bruun-rasmussen.dk/search.do?pg=5&mode=detail&cid=44996&iid=300085615 ), and possibly my favorite of the ones I had seen before.
This weekend I'm heading to Athens to party it up. God it's hard being unemployed.

I may have submitted my resume to the CIA. Granted if I were to get hired by them (unlikely methinks), I'd probably have to relocate to the D.C. area. But still. It's the CIA!

Tonight we shall play board games. Last week we got in a game of Risk whereby I actually managed to hold Asia for a few turns and ended up of course winning because of it. As usual, Australia proved to be the early key to victory. On the docket for this evening are Axis & Allies, Cosmic Encounters (very excellent avalon hill game), perhaps Diplomacy, and perhaps Risk 2210.

Tomorrow I am going to a big job fair in atlanta. This will be at least a semblance of productivity, something I've been feeling a dire need for of late.
Waleska is starting to drive me stir crazy. It's a shame that gas is way expensive right now or I might could actually get out and do something now and again. Rather than play WoW most of the day.
I watched Heathers the other night and it made me feel wondermous. It also made me think of Katie, who I have not spoken to in a while. Hmm, substantive update isn't it? It's a direct mirroring of all that has been going on in my life.
/signing off

| Music: | Clap Your Hands Say Yeah |
I got my Clap Your Hands Say Yeah cd in the mail today and so far find it very much to my liking.
So last night I went to a costume party...and then to a toga party. The first of my collegiate career and likely the last, though it was a lot of fun. I actually ran into quite a few people that I knew and managed to have a lovely conversation about pooping with a girl from the Talking Heads cover band I've gone to see around town a few times.
Today I am missing yet another round of kickball with the kids from back home, but I seem to have so much stuff piling up from summer classes that I can't feel too bad about it. Soon I will be free of all classes and living in that area, so it will be a moot point. I'm taking a break from working on a five page paper at the moment, after which I get to back to some good quality database programming using JDBC and mySQL. The strange thing is that I'm actually rather enjoying all the stuff we're doing in database...meaning I've waited until my very last computer class at the university to find one that I'm genuinely enjoying doing. Maybe this signals hope that the future will not be all boring code monkey slaving.
Two weeks left in Athens, scary thought. I'm moving out next weekend, attending my cousin's wedding the weekend after that, and then am faced with finals whilst living on Ben's couch. Hurray for impending professional responsibility? I think not.
